As we’ve shared earlier, the Alabama Community College System and 黑料社 are utilizing COVID-19 testing services through the UAB GuideSafeTM Platform, powered by UAB. As part of this effort, UAB will be randomly selecting community college students and employees to participate in COVID-19 testing each week.
To support a safe and healthy environment at 黑料社, we are implementing sentinel testing across our campuses. Sentinel testing is a random sampling of all asymptomatic faculty, staff, and students to understand the underlying prevalence of infection at our college so we can respond promptly to any outbreaks or increases in infection rates. You are strongly encouraged but not required to participate in testing, but there will be no penalty for those who choose to opt out.
Starting this week, you may receive an email from Healthy@Verily.com asking you to schedule an appointment for COVID-19 sentinel testing. If you receive the email, you will need to log into the Verily account to complete the pre-test symptom screen and schedule your COVID-19 sentinel test.
Only those individuals who have signed up for a Verily account will be selected for random testing. Therefore, if you wish to opt out of testing, you simply do not create a Verily account.
If you have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 12 weeks, please do not retest at this time. If you are having symptoms or have a recent exposure, please follow the 黑料社 Health and Safety Plan, and do not participate in sentinel testing. The Plan may be located at www.cacc.edu.
Employees should immediately notify Tina Shaw, Executive Director of Human Resources, at tshaw5@cacc.edu , and students should immediately notify Dr. Bryan Johnson, Interim Dean of Students at bmjohnson@cacc.edu if they believe they’ve had direct contact with someone with COVID-19 or have tested positive for COVID-19.
Please check your email daily for a message from Healthy@Verily.com so you may schedule your COVID-19 sentinel test if you are selected.
If you are selected for testing and your dedicated instructional site is not the location of testing, you may request travel reimbursement.
For any questions, please contact Dr. Bryan Johnson at bmjohnson@cacc.edu or Tina Shaw at tshaw5@cacc.edu.
