Trying Trading Mekka

Trying Trading Mekka

Trading Mekka is another indie cosmetics brand I discovered on Instagram. The company is vegan and cruelty free. The company also donates 10% of their sales to the Children’s Hospital Endocrinology and Diabetes program and Diabetes Research and Prevention Centers in developing countries and in the US. The company is based in Southern California.

I had been admiring their liquid lipsticks for a few weeks when Trading Mekka kindly offered me a discount code to try their products. I purchased a couple of liquid lipsticks and their Glowing Goddess highlighter palette.

Lipsticks

The Trading Mekka liquid lipsticks for USD 18.00 each. This is a long-wearing matte formula which claims not to dry out your lips. I found that it delivered for the most part. The formula is a little thin but it dries down to a budge-proof finish. I put on one swipe and then layered strategically on specific areas of my lips to avoid patchiness – this is no different from other liquid lipsticks I have tried.

Also, the formula can be hard to remove as it really settles down on your lips. The brand suggests using a cotton swab dipped in cold cream to clean the borders – and also oil. I used petroleum jelly as my usual micellar water did not do the trick – neither did plain old soap and water.

Overall, I like these lipsticks and can see myself purchasing more shades in the future.

I purchased the following:

Leaf – Pink mauve neutral

Spice – Pink beige neutral

Glowing Goddess Highlighter Palette

This retails for USD 21.95 for a 6-pan highlighter palette. The colors are versatile and there is something for every skintone in here. I haven’t tried the pink shades really yet but the darker ones blend very well. They are not blinding on first swipe but are very buildable. Here are my swatches. The only gripe I have about this palette is the cheap packaging. It is quite flimsy made with some kind of aluminum-type plastic. However, for the price point, I am not complaining too loudly.

Here are a few photos of the some of the highlighters as they appear on the face.

    1. Thank you so much! These mattes aren’t too bad at all with drying. That’s what I don’t like about mattes so I totally get what you are saying. I love glossy lipsticks too though. I find that they really elevate a look.
